Pointy is a Dublin-based tech start-up with over 6000 customers in 5 international markets. We are currently looking for our first finance hire to build out our accounting and finance functions. The successful candidate will join a dynamic company in a period of rapid growth. Pointy has recently raised over $18m of investment from top-tier international investors and has a founding team with a previous exit to Google.

Pointy is looking for an individual to help it prepare for the next phase in the company’s development. The ideal candidate will have potential to grow into a senior role over time, but must be willing to build the function from the ground up, and run all processes themselves initially. This will require hands-on execution and operation of day to day finance processes.


Develop finance function for operating and holding company at Pointy, which would include:

  • delivering accurate month & quarter-end management accounts for the operating company;
  • delivering year end accounts for annual CRO and Revenue reporting compliance together with any international filings that may be required;
  • managing team of outsourced accountants and payroll providers who complete bank reconciliations, payroll and VAT returns;
  • develop a treasury function for the company;
  • support ad-hoc forecasting for revenue / growth modelling; and
  • assist leadership team in preparation for board meetings.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of PQE experience in financial analysis, accounting or related discipline.
  • In-house or industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Previous entrepreneurial experience or time spent in early stage start-ups
  • Leadership and team management potential

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer you will play a key role in the sales team.

You will be responsible for driving new customers to the Flender platform from all industries in Ireland.

You will be expected to undertake targeted outbound telesales campaigns to potential business customers. The role will involve high levels of client interaction so you will be confident dealing with decision makers on the phone.

You will need to be comfortable working on your own initiative and managing your schedule to achieve results.


  • Developing a steady pipeline of business enquiries who create applications via the website
  • Managing customer relationships & ensure successful customer outcomes
  • Guiding customers through the onboarding process explaining clearly what is required to feature on the platform
  • Representing Flender at industry events and trade shows in order to forge connections and identify leads
  • Working closely with the credit team to facilitate customer success.

Ideal Candidate

  • Enthusiastic, organised and results-orientated
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a telesales environment
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Comfortable and confident in being measured against lead conversations

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Help to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Set up and improve finance processes
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Contract Management
  • Payroll Oversight and Maintenance.
  • General financial related administrative duties
  • Bank payments of suppliers
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Quarterly preparation of board financial reporting materials

Your Profile:

  • A recognised accounting qualification or be in the process of acquiring one
  • A can-do attitude, with strong motivation to get things done
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects at once seamlessly
  • Ability to think independently and work collaboratively
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in similar account and book keeping roles.
  • Good IT skills, with excellent knowledge of Excel and Google Drive
